WCB Program Director and Lead Trainer, Jake Kelly, hails from rural Indiana where his love of the game took hold at a young age. Jake tiressly worked on his game on a slab of concrete in front of his childhood home, utilizing his available tools and imagination to perfect moves that he saw on TV. He figured out how to improve his own game and it wasn’t long before Jake was one of the best players in a talent loaded state. He was selected on the All Star team during the Adidas Superstar Camp along with many household NBA names. Jake began working with one of the best NBA player developers in the country, Ed Schilling. He learned and refined his game and later signed with The University of Iowa Hawkeyes of the Big Ten Conference. He started both his Freshman and Sophomore years as a shooting guard. Late in his Sophomore season, Jake was moved to point guard because of his ability to handle the ball. He began to flourish averaging 20 points, 6 assists, and 6 rebounds for the last 10 games and earning Big Ten Player of the Week twice. Jake was considered to having NBA potential but had to transfer home after a tragic plane crash killing his mother. He finished his college career at Indiana State but dealt with serious injuries and illnesses and the second death of his family, his brother. Through all of the adversity, Jake continued training himself and others. He helped several of his teammates in the off season and pushed through having Mono to help take his team to its 1st NCAA tournament appearance in 11 years his senior season. Jake was invited to work out with both the Indiana Pacers and Washington Wizards. He continued working with and for NBA trainers Ed Schilling, Chris Thomas, and Adam Wilson where his knowledge of the game grew. Jake was drafted into the NBA D-League as the 18th pick to the Texas Legends (Dallas Mavs affiliate). A back and feet injury ended his pro career but his love for the game remains. He is excited to bring his knowledge and expertise to the southern California area. Jake is considered an expert in ball handling, footwork, one-on-one offense, and training the body to meet the demands of the sport. It is through his injuries and setbacks that has motivated him to develop a program capable of taking a motivated player to the heights of his/her dreams.
